CASTILLO DE LOARRE (Huesca provincia)
20 km from Jaca, following the road on left bank of Aragón River, we find this monastery. When Muslims invaded Spain, a group of hermits founded a community that survived until 10th century. It was in this century when a count named Galindo Aznarez II founded a monastery dedicated to two saints (San Julián and Santa Basilisa), in the same place where the hermits had lived.

Over this monastery Sancho Ramírez, King of Aragón, built the monastery of San Juan de la Peña as a pantheon for the Kings of Aragón.
