MONASTERIO DE VERUELA

This monastery was founded in 1145, the first of Cistercian monasteries in the province. The whole monastery keeps all its rooms within the fortified building:  the cloister, that has been considered as a “stone garden”, the kitchen, scriptorium and the rooms built during 17th century where the Becquer brothers stayed and where one of them, Gustavo Adolfo, wrote his Cartas desde mi celda.
